Season 2 arrives on 3 September, which makes this the month everyone re-searches what the new Duke of Halstead actually wears. Here is the uncomfortable truth of that search: exactly one primary source has ever named Eddie Horniman's real clothes — the outfitter that supplied them — and both of his confirmed pieces are now unbuyable. Meanwhile, the Barbour model name that circulates on every style blog does not survive contact with Barbour's own website. We went to the sources, and this is the verified map.
The one primary source everyone skips
The show's costume designer is Loulou Bontemps, and she is famously reluctant to talk brands. Her stated philosophy, from an interview with Immersive Media: when she and the director discuss wardrobe, "it won't be about particular brands, it'll be about the quality of fabrics." Worth knowing before you wait it out: August is the tail of Cordings' summer season, and cotton drill is a spring–summer cloth, so an autumn restock is plausible — but that is our inference about a heritage retailer's calendar, not anything Cordings has said. The broader Horniman-family list from the same source is deeper: thirteen named pieces for Lady Sabrina (a Wincanton tweed three-piece among them), eight for Freddy including the Grey Herringbone Donegal Follifoot coat, and a Redcar tweed suit elsewhere in the cast. The Barbour claim: reported everywhere, verified nowhere
Every style writeup of this show puts Eddie in Barbour. The chain of evidence deserves scrutiny, because it is a textbook case of how menswear identification goes wrong.
What is solid: reporting on the show's costumes describes Barbour jackets in Eddie's country-transformation arc. Barbour-on-Eddie, as a general claim, has multiple independent write-ups behind it.
What is not: the model name. One widely copied identification calls it the Kendle. We searched Barbour's own US site for "kendle" today: no results — the model is not in Barbour's current range at all. Meanwhile a Barbour retailer's own blog names a different model — the Ogston — as the clearest connection. Two sources, two different jackets, and no statement from Bontemps or the production naming either.
Our verdict, in this site's terms: Barbour, reported; model, unverified. If you buy a current Bedale or Ogston you will be inside the show's visual language, and no one can tell you that the screen jacket was a different cut — including the blogs that told you it was a Kendle.
What this teaches about the show's whole wardrobe
The deeper pattern, straight from the designer's interviews: Eddie's style arc is deliberate and slow. In her own words, he "comes home as the humble soldier wearing clothes for function" and gains polish stepwise — "from crewnecks, lovely coats, tweed jackets and then the three-piece suits." The brand hunt on this show produced one confirmed supplier and one invented model name.
