Mattel's own store lists every Barbie The Movie doll at full price and every single one is sold out. Not most — all of them, across the US, Canadian and UK stores. Amazon still has ten, from $19.89. And of roughly thirty brand collaborations from 2023, four are still buyable, none of which is actually the film's capsule.

Mattel's own stores are empty
This is the finding that matters most, because it is the first place anyone looks.
Mattel Creations — the collector storefront — lists the whole line at original prices and every doll and playset is unavailable. Weird Barbie at $50, Ken in the Kenough hoodie at $50, President Barbie at $50, the Campfire two-pack at $100, the Pink Corvette at $75, the nine-doll collector set at $400. Zero exceptions.
Mattel Shop US and Canada does the same thing — a full page of products with prices and add-to-cart buttons that resolve to "Out of Stock."
The UK store is worse. Its entire Barbie The Movie collection contains one product: a UNO card game at £11.99, also out of stock. Its search returns five movie items, all unavailable, and some still carry untranslated Italian and Spanish titles. That store has effectively been abandoned.
The line is not discontinued. New dolls shipped as recently as a second-anniversary wave — a Chelsea four-pack in July 2025 and an Allan doll in September 2025. New stock simply does not reach Mattel's own shops.
Where the dolls actually are
Third-party retail, and mostly at less than Mattel's original price.

Three are missing entirely and are resale-only: Weird Barbie, the pink Western Barbie, and the black-and-white swimsuit Barbie. Weird Barbie was a Mattel Creations exclusive at $50 and never sold through Amazon directly.
What Weird Barbie costs now: live listings cluster at $70–$100, with outliers to $140 and a few marketplace sellers asking up to $199. Roughly one and a half to two times original.
A necessary caveat on every resale figure on this page. These are asking prices on live listings, not completed sales. The major auction site now puts its sold-price filter behind a sign-in wall and blocked every attempt to read it. Asking prices run high; treat them as a ceiling.
Two different Kenough hoodies
Worth separating, because people buy the wrong one.
Mattel's own tie-dye sherpa hoodie — embroidered chest message, "K" monogram, unisex sizing — is $42, reduced from $60, and marked "Pre-order Sold Out." Every size unavailable. It is done.
A licensed pullover hoodie under the "Barbie The Movie" label is $43.99 on Amazon and in stock. Different garment, same idea, genuinely buyable today.
And here is the useful part: the Mattel sherpa trades on resale at or below its own $42 clearance price — live asks run from $18 to $90, with most between $35 and $55. There is no scarcity premium. If you want a Kenough hoodie, buy the in-stock one.
What is still buyable, and the catch
Of around thirty collaborations, four survive:
- Funboy pool floats, $14–$89 — but every 2021–2023 movie-era item is sold out. What is in stock was published in 2024–2026. It is an ongoing licence, not the film drop. Ships US and Canada only.
- Crocs Mattel Pink Barbie Classic Clog, €69.99, six of ten sizes available on the European store. Carries no "Barbie The Movie" branding at all.
- Zara, one washed-effect Barbie T-shirt at $39.90. The 2023 capsule is gone; this is a later single item.
- boohoo, an oversized hoody down to £13.00 from £25. Whether this was ever a genuine collaboration we could not establish.
So the honest summary is that the 2023 Barbie collaboration programme is entirely gone. Aldo, Superga, Impala, Béis, Fossil, NYX, OPI, Gap, Forever 21, Ruggable, Joybird, Kitsch, Homesick and the rest are dead. Cold Stone's menu ended on a published date in August 2023.
Homesick is the sharpest example of how fast this happens: their Barbie candle showed as out of stock on the brand's own page less than six weeks after launch.
Three that were never for sale at all
Do not let anyone tell you these "sold out."
- Xbox — the Barbie DreamHouse console was a sweepstakes prize. Exactly one was made. It was never a product.
- Airbnb — two one-night stays in July 2023, free of charge, and the company said explicitly it was not a contest.
- Progressive — a television campaign. No merchandise ever existed.
And one shopping trap
Several dead collaborations still have live marketing pages with nothing behind them — full hero images, "shop now" buttons, zero products. Superga's Barbie page is the clearest case. Joybird's collaboration URL now quietly redirects to a blog article.
A page loading is not the same as a product existing. If a "shop the collection" button leads to an empty grid, that collection ended.
What the costume designer actually said about Chanel
Jacqueline Durran is direct about it:
"If Margot wears anything that we didn't make, it's pretty much Chanel."
And on access: "They sent us anything and everything that we wanted." She describes pulling suits, beachwear, sportswear and accessories from the archive — mainly 1980s pieces — with items remade when the size or colour was wrong.
One thing to be careful with. You will read that Barbie wears "three vintage Chanel suits." The record is not that clean: Chanel's own account describes five silhouettes, and one report describes them as newly designed for the film rather than archive. The truthful version is a mix of archive, archive remade to fit, and current collection, and nobody has published a definitive per-garment breakdown.
No Chanel × Barbie retail product has ever existed. Chanel supplied costume; that is the whole relationship.
There is a genuine collector's footnote, though. Chanel's Spring/Summer 1995 collection is nicknamed the "Barbie" collection in the vintage trade — a Chanel theme, nothing to do with Mattel — and Durran referenced it independently. Archive suits from that season currently ask $1,990 to $7,651 on the specialist resale market, with several already sold. Watch for listings dated "21st century" that a seller has simply nicknamed Barbie; those are modern.
The shoes and the skates
Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle in nubuck vegan leather, "Rose." The final-scene sandal. Its current-line equivalent is live at $129.95 / £105.00 / CA$170.00. Worth noting the director has said this was not product placement — it was a costume choice — and the attribution comes from press rather than from the costume designer directly.
Impala was the genuine skate partner, confirmed from the brand side. The screen pairs were Impalas hand-painted neon by the costume department, so no retail pair ever matched them exactly.
The collaboration is now delisted on Impala's own stores, and the Australian site lists all seven products with every variant unavailable. One US specialist retailer still has stock — women's 6 and 7 at $98.99.
And a correction: the skates were not Rollerblade. That brand was explicitly not chosen.
Manolo Blahnik comes up constantly and belongs to the press tour, not the film. It is red-carpet styling, not costume.
